YOUTH ADAPT
The African Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge (Youth Adapt) is an annual competition and awards program for young entrepreneurs, micro, small and medium sized enterprises.
Kimplanter Seedlings and Nurseries participated in the challenge and emerged among the cohort 1 top 15 winners in 2021.The program enabled us support farmers in the semi-arid region of Kajiado South and Makuyu in Murang’a county areas affected by drought and adverse climate change. We conducted trainings to empower over 100 households with knowledge and tools to establish climate-smart kitchen gardens where nutritious vegetables grow with minimal water. We provided each household with a vertical garden and seedlings to kickstart the journey to a healthy diet.
TUNALIMA YOUNG
Tunalima Young Initiative” (meaning we are farming while young). It is an initiative that targets youth and school children to sensitize them on the importance of practicing modern agriculture, proper nutrition by providing appropriate agricultural education and practical experience. The programs aim to foster entrepreneurship by encouraging the youth to actively participate in agriculture and start their own agricultural ventures, promote food security and equip the young with essential farming skills and knowledge.
By investing in the youth and children through mentorship, involvement in agricultural activities and providing access to resources the initiative inspires the next generation of farmers but also addresses food security challenge creating sustainable livelihoods and preserving agricultural heritage.
